James has been a member of Nack, Richardson & Nack, P.C. since 1974, practicing from the firm's principal office in Galena, Illinois. Before joining the firm, he was a partner at the prominent Chicago firm of Winston & Strawn, LLP — experience he has brought to bear on behalf of local clients for decades.
Born in Dubuque, Iowa, James earned his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame in 1961 and his Juris Doctorate with Distinction from the University of Michigan College of Law in 1964, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and received the honorary Order of the Coif.
James's commitment to Galena extends well beyond the courtroom. He served as City Attorney for Galena from 1975 to 1989 and is a past president of the Jo Daviess County Bar Association. Over the years he has given his time to numerous community boards, including the Galena Arts and Recreation Center, the Jo Daviess 708 County Board, and the Galena Public Library.
